School uniform policy
Rationale
Students
enrolled at Te Puke Primary School are required to wear the official
school uniform. The schools uniform establishes a school identity and
sense of belonging and supports the school’s attempts to create a sense
of pride in personal appearance and the school’s image. The uniform
makes it easier for parents to decide what their child will wear to
school each day and eliminates peer pressure to dress in expensive
‘label’ clothing.
Guidelines
· -
Students are required to wear the correct school uniform at all times
during the school day as well as school trips when required.
- If a
child’s not wearing a school uniform item, they must have a note written
by their parent/caregivers giving reasons. Non regulation items are only
allowed to be worn for one day when accompanied by a parental/caregiver
note.
· -
It is parents/caregivers responsibility to label all uniform items. The
school takes no responsibility for lost property.
· -
During wet or cold weather in terms 2 and 3, students are allowed to
wear a non uniform item (eg: jacket/coat) to/from school, but this must
be removed once at school.
· -
Hats
must be worn by students in terms 1 and 4 whenever they go outside.
· -
The uniform must be clean, tidy and in good repair
· -
No jewellery to be worn unless it is of cultural or religious
significance. Such items must be verified by the principal via a note
written by the parents explaining its significance and need to be worn
at school. The school takes no responsibility for lost jewellery
· -
Earrings must be simple studs
· -
Hair must be clean, tidy. Colour enhancements can only be the same as
the students natural hair colour.
· -
Any undergarments should not be seen eg: singlets, t-shirts, boxer
shorts.
· -
Long pants can’t be worn with skirts
· -
Children who for religious reasons need to wear extra garments (eg:scarves/headdress)
are required to do so in the school colours of red, black or white
· -
No
stick on tattoos or drawings on skin
· -
The
school will purchase and provide labelled/logo uniform items at low
prices passing these costs directly onto the purchaser. Items that can
only be purchased through the school and no other retailer because of
the school logo are polo shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, pants/trousers,
skorts and hats. The school is committed to ensuring that uniforms are
affordable and of a high quality.
· -
Second hand items can be brought and sold via the community notice board
in the administration area. The school will not sell clothes on behalf
of parents. Selling cards are available at the office. |
