Our PTA are a committed team of parents who support the school in developing the community spirit that makes TPPS such a great place for all families.  They have a lot of fun together and enjoy making a difference for the students, parents and teachers.

The PTA exists to provide additional activities and facilities for our children to enjoy during their time at Te Puke Primary. All of our PTA members are very proud of our school.  We work together to make TPPS fun, fun fun!!!! Being in the PTA is a fantastic way to meet new parents and to work alongside the staff to plan and create some wonderful opportunities for the students. Being on the PTA is also a great way to be involved in developing the school culture here at TPPS. There are many advantages to spending lots of time at school organising our functions and activities.  The teachers and the children all know us by name and we see a whole new social side to the school as a  result.  We become part of the children’s childhood school memories almost as much as the teachers.

As a group, our focus is not on having to make money. We do fund raising activities because we want to provide the school with those little extras which can sometimes stretch the schools budget provided by the government. The PTA operates both the canteen and the stationary room and the small profits from these go straight towards our various activities.  During a typical year on the PTA we will be involved in organising several sausage sizzles, the Spring Fling Disco, sales of Easter Eggs, various raffles, Christmas Float Parade, Christmas Calendars, etc.  In the past we have fundraised to purchase new digital cameras, build playgrounds, the sandpit and shade sail, re-fencing the school pool, the dodgeball wall, the new seating, new sports uniforms and the painting of hopscotch games etc onto the concrete.  In 2004 we started supporting the Duffy Books in Homes programme in the school which has seen an increase in students literacy levels and love of books as a result.

Come along and join us in making a difference for the students and the school. We have a new Coffee Club where we like to meet any parents who want to get together and talk about education and helping the school to provide some exciting opportunities for the students. We are a great bunch who have a lot of fun together. If you would like to join us on the PTA please call Jenny Wotten on  (07) 573 5464.
