Our Achievers are at the heart of everything we do. We endeavour to respond to individual needs, strengths and aspirations. Research and evidence enable our team to develop a culture of high performance based on whanaungatanga, collaboration and reflection.

ACHIEVER Values
Through extensive consultation and workshopping with; our community, students, whānau and staff, TPPS Achievers have four learning values (capabilities).
We call them Achiever Values.
The Achiever Values are tools to represent the multiple different characteristics we want our ākonga to develop and demonstrate. They are expressed in everyday actions and interactions to help us all recognise them and articulate their importance.
Our Achiever Values are part of our TPPS everyday curriculum - encouraged, modelled, explored, assessed and reflected on.
The learning environments at TPPS are multi age groupings. This enables the targeting of developmental stages of learning and ensures a more culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning.

Collaborative Learning
Co-teaching at Te Puke Primary School develops professional relationships; 2, 3 and 4 kaiako COLLABORATE to support our Achievers in a more effective and culturally responsive way. Kaiako plan, work, learn and take care of pastoral needs collaboratively. Multiple perspectives on the task of helping each individual Achiever learn. Using the strengths of kaiako within each class gives us the ability to be responsive to the different needs, passions and strengths of the ākonga. ACHIEVERS are flexibly grouped throughout the day based on learning needs, activity, curriculum, work habits, levels of independence and content knowledge. KAIAKO model supportive, parallel, complementary and team teaching techniques throughout the day. Collaboration also extends to connecting and building relationships with our whānau - relationships that are of the utmost importance for our Achievers to feel like they belong, are safe, are supported at school and can approach learning with confidence.
Self Directed Learning
Self Directed Learning / Learning through Play and Explorer Time is a big part of our localised curriculum here at TPPS.
Research and evidence showed it to meet developmental needs we identified in our tamariki - particularly oral language and social and emotional regulation.
Our tamariki want to; imagine, construct, roll, order, rotate, climb, build, gather, transport, roleplay, transform, dig and bury, investigate, envelop, and throw…
Ngahere Kura
Te Puke Primary Forest School strives to offer Achievers an alternative, inclusive and holistic learning environment that responds to our tamariki. An environment that grounds our senses, connects us to papatuanuku and promotes wellbeing, belonging, contribution, communication and exploration. Research on holistic learning and neuroscience perspectives underpins our purpose for a Forest School programme. As does our quest to create different ways for our tamariki to recognise their strengths and share their skills and knowledge. The TPPS Ngahere Kura curriculum is linked to the Learner Profile created by our Achiever Values. It provides holistic and experiential learning that nurtures the relationship we have, as kaitiaki (guardians), with our land and it’s resources. Every child will be given space and time to explore, experiment, wonder and create.
