Learning Experiences

At Te Puke Primary School, we pride ourselves in offering our tamariki a wide range of learning experiences. From the Arts to Sport, performing to Cultural, we have an array of opportunities for every kind of tamariki.

SDL – Self Directed Learning

Each learning environment, both junior and senior, provides a variety of provocations. Put simply, provocations provoke! They will provoke thoughts, discussions, questions, interests, creativity and ideas. Our tamariki develop life-skills such as thinking creatively, problem solving, self management, and so much more!

Hākinakina / Sport

At TPPS we have a wide range of Sport for our tamariki to have a go at! From Rippa Rugby, to Flippaball there is something for everyone. Our passionate Sport Coordinators do their best to provide activities both internally and externally for our achievers to express themselves through sport.

Performing Arts

At TPPS, we love to give students the opportunity to express themselves through the arts. From Major Production to Fresh Moves, Showcase to Arts rotation, our tamariki thrive in performing and our kaiako aim to provide the best.

Supreme Sport Group

Our Supreme Sport Group is made up of students selected by kaiako that have shown promising signs of skill in sport as well as important leadership qualities amongst their classmates. The Supreme Sport Programme focuses on helping our future athletes reach their full potential both on and off the playing field as well as preparing them for higher level competition down the track.

EOTC – Education Outside the Classroom

Ski camps, bush camps, noho Marae, tramps, trips to other regions, trips in and around our community, ‘Have a go’ days in the community, leadership and Supreme Sports camps, Art Gallery and Public Library sessions, and much MUCH more!

Pūtaiao / Science

TPPS has been lucky enough to have teachers involved in the Royal Society’s Science Teaching Leadership Programme. Through this we have connected with local experts, WBOP Regional Council, Waitaha Iwi and Maketu Ongatoro Wetlands Society.

Whare Competition

Our whare competitions have become legendary – you name it, we give points for it!

Competitions range from showing Achiever Values in the playground and earning the coveted whare points, competing in a range of sports competitions, quizzes, dressing up and wearing your whare colours with pride.

We love this opportunity for our Achievers to mix with all ages and our staff and community to get behind their children’s whare.
